keeping the dream alive

7 piece collection of items created to facilitate surfing. Designed through putting a critical eye on my equipment/ the equipment available/ and personal experience. The material choices are focused around the items interactions with water. All items can be cleaned with a hose and dried outdoors.

2020

bag

A bag built around transporting wet/dry wetsuit, boots, towel, and accessories. Surfing is facilitated by decreasing time spent on managing equipment. One pocket for large items and one pocket for small ones. Neutral colors which contrast traditionally black wetsuit materials making internal equipment easily visible. Externally, the neutral colors add to invisibility in sandy environments further removing attention from equipment and placing the focus on surfing.

ground cover

Creating a space to change/ prepare/ organize/ utilize equipment while being separated from the ground. Dimensions also account for the ability for this cover to be used in a sleeping setting. Large grommets on all corners offer a way to interface with cordage. Water proof outside, water repellent inside.

towel

A towel thats centered around its ability to wrap. The form increases the amount of coverage the towel provides for changing/ warmth as well as sit more squarely on the body. Indigo subtly camouflages itself into dark wetsuits and stitched white circles provide guidance for the most effective orientation. 

*French terry cloth

bottle

Removable insulating jacket for 2.5 gallon plastic bottle. Keeps hot water hot and cold water cold. Aimed at storing/ carrying freshwater for rinsing off saltwater, however has multitude of storage uses.

lunch bag

Lunch bag that is highly functional in separating lunch/ anything from other items in larger bag system. Roll top closure with hidden snaps. The process of opening the bag involves an unrolling gesture, reminiscent of brown paper lunch bags. When snapped closed, the top serves as a handle.

napkin

Multi purpose cloth napkin. Highly visible red and white linens to be used for a multitude of purposes. Brass grommets add additional functionality/ interface with cordage. Focused on extending utility beyond basic hand wiping.

rack

Drying/ storage rack creating a consistent space to clean/ store/ and dry equipment. Bars on the top spread out wetsuit/ other items to facilitate quicker drying. Slats on the bottom allow boots/ other items to be oriented in multiple ways.
